Google Office Mania. Slow News Month?

More blog entries on this subject than any other yesterday, with 1811 posts and counting, according to Technorati. Back in reality, here’s what alexaholic has to say about four of the best-known hosted office products versus one RSS aggregator service. Bear in mind that only 9% of US employees even know what RSS is.

Update: This graph doesn’t seem to work on Safari on an Mac, it seems. It shows there’s a lot more interest in bloglines than zoho, jot, 37Signals and even salesforce.com.

Now call me a narrow-minded sceptic if you will, but I’m not entirely convinced that we’re on the cusp of a computing revolution just yet.

P.S. Marc Fawzi from Evolving Trends is looking for a top-notch software developer to join his team in Silicon Valley. For some reason, he thought such people might come here.

  • Yup, far too much about a relative non-event — agreed.

Not sure your alexaholic graph is particularly relevant though. Which is a better business metric, page views or revenue? I think Salesforce.com might do rather well against Bloglines if you use the more old-fashioned and currently underrated evaluation technique of financial performance. Doh, I hear the whole of Silicon Valley collectively sigh.

  • LOL! Fair point. I’m sure salesforce.com aren’t weeping into their bedsheets too hard about the attention grabbed by many of the 2.0 “superstars”.

    But I haven’t got that graph :)

  • I did qualify my expectation by saying “you never know!” :)

I have no idea whattype of folks read your blog but I read it and finding my replicon would work! That way I can cluster our brains and have a safe fail-over mechanism.

    Marc

  • I’m feeling slightly scared now. What could have been unleashed here?
