Mmm. ‘Thank you’, Simon, for tagging me with the ‘Five Things You Don’t Know About Me’ meme. But as it is the end of term, here goes:
- I tried to learn to play the guitar at school. Thanks to deep-rooted unmusicality, I never got past the first eight bars of ‘Pretty Vacant’.
- My first snog was in a graveyard. I think her name was Catherine and she was the vicar’s daughter. She dumped me later that night.
- I used to have very spikey hair, modelled after a punk band called the Shockheaded Peters (Still going. They were more shockheaded in my day). When I was a teacher, the kids used to call me Nigel, after popular violinist Nigel Kennedy. I also got Gary (after TV chef Gary Rhodes). Confusingly, I also got called Stan (after Stan Laurel).
- I am allergic to dust mites and the resins used in making shoes. One makes me sneeze and the other makes me itchy.
- My dad’s only advice to me when I first left home to go to University? “Never mix the grain and the grape, son.” It’s worked pretty well for me.
And with that, over to David, Deidre, Antony, Marc, and James.
